Dr. Martens grew up in rural western Oregon and completed his undergraduate work at the University of Oregon. He and his wife Natasha, and their two daughters, Shaelyn and Aurelia, are excited to be back in the Northwest.
“We have had the opportunity to live in California, Nevada, and Michigan through Carey’s training, but there is no place as beautiful or people as friendly as in the Northwest,” adds Natasha.
Dr. Martens attended Touro University in Vallejo, CA for medical school. He then completed his training in obstetrics and gynecologic surgery at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital in Pontiac, MI through the Michigan State University. Additional training through osteopathic medical school has provided Dr. Martens further skills to help in many of his patients’ treatment.
“The foundation of D.O. training is viewing the body as a whole with every system interrelated at all levels.”As an Osteopathic physician Dr. Martens was taught musculoskeletal manipulation which he finds extremely helpful with his pregnant patients.
Dr. Martens’ goal is to make his clinic and Grays Harbor Community Hospital a center for minimally invasive gynecology.
“By taking traditional surgeries and employing new, modern techniques I can greatly reduce recovery time and post-operative pain.”
